The business, which has an established reputation in the north of Scotland, has secured projects from a range of prestigious clients, including Morrison Construction, Robertson and Balfour Beatty, to provide engineering services to a number of community-based projects, such as New Merkinch School in Inverness, New Linkwood Primary School in Elgin and Rockfield Community Facility in Oban.
Korrie is also involved in two new housing schemes, Whitehills in Alness with contractors Pat Munro and with TSL Contractors at Achintore, Fort William.
“In the last six months, we’ve secured contracts on projects that will really help to shape local communities in the north and we’re proud of this achievement.”
The business employs circa 150 people across the north and is sharply focused on developing the next generation of engineers, with 26 apprentices currently employed. One of Korrie’s Stage 1 apprentices, Sean Davies, recently saw off competition from 700 other apprentices to be named SECTT Electrical Apprentice of the Year for Scotland.
People have always been at the heart of the Korrie, which was founded 9 years ago by Donnie Fraser, who also established Korrie Kauses to support Highland Hospice.
The business is also committed to tackling fuel poverty and reducing energy costs and carbon emissions, through its contract delivery heating services and work with partners such as The Highland Council on its Heating Framework.
Korrie is now led by Kevin Shinnie, who joined the business at the beginning of the year, with operations also supported by longstanding director, Peter Corbett.
Kevin Shinnie, Director of Korrie Technical Services, said: “Securing more than £8 million in contracts in the last six months is a big milestone for Korrie, as it highlights not only the quality, expertise and hard work of people in the business, but also the investment that is taking place in the north of Scotland.
“In the last six months, we’ve secured contracts on projects that will really help to shape local communities in the north, such as Merkinch Primary School and early years nurseries in Forres, Cullen, Ellon and Portlethen, and we’re proud of this achievement.
“I may have only been Korrie’s director since Spring of this year, but it was clear as soon as I arrived at the Inverness HQ that the business has deep roots within the local community, which will remain a key focus as we continue to grow the business.”
